Still no clearance…
..but I decided to wait for the clearance in NYC instead of Boise.

I got in to JFK around 3:00 and then got my bags. The baggage claim for Delta reminded me of baggage claims in Italy…not all that nice but relatively effective. After I got my bags, I waited for, like, 20 minutes for a cab. The ridiculously nice people that I’m staying with recommended I just take the train but…I had two bags…didn’t really know for sure where I was going…etc, etc…I just got a cab.
The cab driver was a really nice guy from Georgia (the country, not the state) who went to school in Moscow and then had an opportunity to come to the United States to work. He kind of made me think of those Portuguese fishermen from Family Guy…”Back in my home country I was a surgeon”…or something. Anyway, he’s lived here for thirty years, knew New York City inside and out, loved Las Vegas, and pointed out interesting things as we drove past.
We drove all through Brooklyn on Atlantic Ave. Apparently the majority of Brooklyn (until you get to the Flatbush area) is made up of Restaurant equipment repair places.
Eventually though, I got to Josh and Yvonne’s house, climbed over the small mountain over snow keeping the street from the sidewalk and walked up to my front door for the next couple of weeks.

This morning I helped Josh and Yvonne with their luggage to get to the LIRR (that’s the Long Island RailRoad…duh…) and then walked back. Hopefully hooking up with my cousin who lives and works out here sometime today. Probably get a subway pass…big plans…heh.
Future posts probably won’t be quite this long…more pictures, less text. Who else is excited?
